BETHANY BUCHHOLZ, MA
Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
Have you been carrying beliefs about yourself that leave you feeling stuck, inadequate, anxious, or disconnected from who you truly are? Do you find yourself constantly questioning your worth, people-pleasing, or struggling to understand why certain patterns keep showing up in your relationships and daily life? What would it feel like to have a space where you don't have to defend yourself, explain yourself, or fear judgment, a space where you can simply be understood?
Hi, My name is Bethany Buchholz, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who is passionate about helping children, teens, and adults reconnect with their authentic identity and move beyond the negative beliefs that have been shaping their lives for far too long.
I believe many of the struggles people face - anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and life transitions are often connected to the stories they've come to believe about themselves. My goal is not to tell clients who they are, but to help them discover who they are beneath the pain, expectations, fears, and experiences that may have clouded their sense of self.
My approach is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while remaining collaborative and client-led. I also integrate concepts from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-based work, emotionally focused approaches, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) interventions. Together, we explore patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, develop practical coping skills, and cultivate greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and emotional resilience. I strive to create a counseling environment characterized by curiosity, compassion, and genuine understanding. I believe healing often begins when we feel truly seen and understood without judgment. Whether you are navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, grief, trauma, or a significant life transition, therapy can be a place to process your experiences, strengthen your sense of self, and move toward lasting growth.
As a Christian counselor, I am happy to incorporate faith, prayer, and Biblical principles for clients who desire it while welcoming individuals from all backgrounds and beliefs. My hope is to provide a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their experiences, find healing, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their values.
