MARIA PAULA GUTIERREZ LOPEZ, LMHC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Welcome - I’m Maria, and I’m glad you found your way here! Life is filled with waves of confusion, emotional intensity, and change - many of which we are not always prepared to face. These experiences can ripple through the mind, body, and spirit, leaving us feeling overwhelmed or unsure of how to move forward. Over time, patterns can develop that keep us in cycles that no longer serve us, leading to feelings of instability, disconnection, and loss of purpose. I take a holistic and compassionate approach to therapy, focusing on identifying and addressing the root of negative core beliefs and relational patterns that contribute to these cycles. I utilize evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you better understand your experiences, reclaim your sense of power, and move toward meaningful change.
At the start of my career, I worked as an ABA therapist providing behavioral therapy to children on the autism spectrum, where I also drew upon my background in crisis intervention. Today, I integrate these behavioral therapy techniques across all age ranges, thoughtfully adapting my approach to meet the developmental needs, goals, and lived experiences of each client.
I primarily work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, BPD, bipolar disorder, chronic illness, traumatic life experiences, and distressing life transitions. With over five years of experience in the mental health field, I support clients in finding balance and strengthening emotional regulation.
I am fluent in Spanish and provide culturally sensitive care, honoring each client’s cultural background and values. I strive to create a warm, safe, and collaborative therapeutic environment where you feel seen, respected, and empowered to guide your healing journey - whether that is in-person or virtually. My goal is to help you rediscover your spark - shifting from simply surviving to truly appreciating yourself and the life you are building.
